Congratulations on this new and exciting time in your life! Your sweet new baby is an absolute blessing. His first few days of life are both magical and completely overwhelming! His curly little limbs, fuzzy hair and flaky skin come and go so quickly. For that reason, we specialize in newborn portraits as a way to capture those precious little details of your brand new baby. It is my pleasure to be your Las Vegas Newborn Photographer! How does it work you ask? Well, here are just a few frequently asked questions about Purest Light Photography Newborn Sessions.
When is the best time to schedule my newborn session with Purest Light Photography?
It is never too early to schedule your newborn session with Purest Light Photography. In fact, the best time to contact Susan is before you have your baby. We recommend that you schedule your newborn session when while you are in your second trimester. Because your baby’s birth date is unpredictable Susan will reserve a general time frame for you. When your sweet little bundle arrives you will contact her and set up an exact date and time for your session. Newborn sessions take place between 4-14 days old, babies older than two weeks tend to be less cooperative and sleep less soundly. Newborn issues such as colic and newborn acne tend to flair up a well.
Where do newborn sessions take place?
Newborn sessions are shot in Susan’s studio space to allow for proper climate, lighting and access to all of her studio props.
How long do newborn sessions last?
Newborn sessions can last from 2-4 hours. This allows quite a bit of time for feeding and soothing babies. After feeding Susan handles all of the posing so parents can sit back and relax. Snacks and refreshments are kept in the studio for parents and two big comfy chairs that have been know to induce sleeping. Haha!
Do I need to bring my own props?
Susan provides all of the props in her studio space. She dedicates a lot of time to styling each and every set up for your baby’s newborn session. She uses lot of neutral color, a variety of textures and dainty headbands and bonnets to create visually appealing images. Each session is customized for you. Susan prides herself in buying handmade props from other small business owners and even making some of her own! If you have a sentimental prop or blanket you would like to use during your session please feel free to bring it along.
Will my baby be safe?
Susan’s number ONE concern during every session is the safety and comfort of your baby! Susan is vigilant at practicing newborn safety during every session and at no point will “Getting the shot” take precedence over the safety of your baby. Susan is a fully licensed photographer in the state of Nevada and Purest Light Photography is fully insured. She has safely handled and photographed over 300 newborns over the last 9 years. She even teaches other photographers how to photograph newborns safely!
What if my baby poops/pees!?
Do not panic, accidents happen! Please don’t feel embarrassed because it is expected. Every blanket in the studio is thrown right into the wash and all of the props are cleaned with all natural cleaners. It is completely normal for Susan to have a big load of laundry to do after every session.
What happens after the session?
After your session you can expect an email from Susan detailing what happens next. One to two sneak peak images with be shared on the Purest Light Photography Facebook Page within 48 hours of your session. In about two weeks you will receive a link to your fully edited gallery, you are free to share this gallery with friends and family. Your digital images can be downloaded directly to your home computer! So easy! Albums, canvases and print orders can be made through Susan.
